Saturday, Aug 27, join Friends of Albany Hill for the last Saturday of the month work party, 9:30-11:30am. Meet at the NE meadow next to Cerrito Creek. Gloves and tools provided but bring a favorite weeding tool if you like. Wear closed-toed shoes with good traction and clothes that can get dirty. Free t-shirts for participants. Afterwards grab a bite to eat at Off the Grid on Fairmount Ave between San Pablo Ave and Carlson Blvd in El Cerrito.

Meet at the end of Taft on Albany Hill (Taft is the top-most road on Albany Hill; Jackson, also a dead-end, is one street below).

Join us on a leisurely walk looking at plants and birds and picking up trash Weds July 27, 5:30 pm-6:30 pm. Free Friends of Albany Hill t-shirts for everyone who comes and for those who didn’t get one last time.

You may also see some Pokemons at Creekside Park in El Cerrito and at the creek crossing on the way to our meeting place.

Location: Meet at the meadow on the south side of Cerrito Creek near the benches. Afterwards grab a bite to eat at Off the Grid on Fairmount Ave between San Pablo Ave and Carlson Blvd in El Cerrito. Directions:

Great news! The city of Albany has decided not to change Measure R at this time, and will be holding a workshop in the next couple of months to further discuss ideas and projects for the hill. Thanks to everyone who wrote letters and came to the city council meeting July 5, and thanks to the mayor and city council members for supporting the hill.

Come out and enjoy the hill this Weds July 13, 5:30 pm-6:30 pm as we take a leisurely walk looking at plants and birds and picking up trash. Free Friends of Albany Hill t-shirts for everyone who comes.

Help the hill on June 25

Saturday June 25 join Friends of Albany Hill and Friends of Albany Parks for the last Saturday of the month work party, 9:00 am-12:30 pm.

Learn about nature on the hill and threats to funding for the hill. The city wants to make the open space fund for Albany Hill available to other parks in the city, although there are many uncompleted projects and land still in private hands on the hill.

We’ll be pulling French broom and other weeds and picking up trash. Gloves and tools provided but bring a favorite weeding tool if you like. Wear closed-toed shoes with good traction and clothes that can get dirty. Long pants and long sleeves recommended. Free lunch provided by the Albany Community Foundation.

Meet at the top of hill at the Taft St turnaround, one street above Jackson St.

Work party Jan. 30

January 30, join Friends of Albany Hill for the last Saturday of the month work party, 9:30-11:30am. We’ll be pulling more ivy in the oak woodland on the east side and the job should be easier now that rains have softened the soil. Meet at the meadow just south of Cerrito Creek (see link to map below). Gloves and tools provided but bring a favorite weeding tool if you like. Wear closed-toed shoes with good traction and clothes that can get muddy. Long pants and long sleeves recommended.
